The Light

the black spots
floating on the bright red fabric
while on the other side of the glass
the white light shines
glaring, hurting, blinding
and I don't want to see it,
and I can't see it.
nature's mirror producing
a perfect upside down image
and I don't want to see it,
and I can't see it.
look around you.
the white light is everywhere,
they say
and I can't see it.
and every time I catch a glimpse
of the white light or the black,
I hear that sniping voice
come tumbling back into my head.
yes, I can see why you
don't see the white light.
sure, because I can see
why you can,
so the least you could do
is close your eyes
and block out the light for just a second
and try to understand.
