my gold

silver water
silver sky
the world is without colour
but for the deep blue of your eyes
and the hues of the hot,
invisible fire we're creating
in the scarce space left to fill
between ourselves,
within ourselves,
within each other.

the lids of your oceans close
as the pillows of your lips close onto mine,
your body becomes my blanket,
and the grass beneath my back
becomes a bed,
an endless bed
with endless space for us to christen.
and when you push into me,
it's just like i'm in bed
dreaming of this
the way i always did,
just like my dreams,
but so much better.
this bed turns into heaven
and our flames
lick the ceiling
of the kingdom in the clouds.
no life after death,
no perfect paradise,
could bring to me a feeling
even close to this.
i would be falling to heaven
from the heights i have now reached.

we mix our drinks,
i sip from your sweat one last time,
and we fall back to earth.
but i don't mind this fall,
it doesn't hurt
because you're with me.
i fall in your arms
and into your arms
again, you are my pillow
and my blanket,
cushioning me from the shock
of the end of what we've had,
and wrapping me in memories
of passionate moments past.
i can live,
i can love anything
so long as it's with you.
the world may be shrouded in silver tonight,
but you, my love,
to me, will always be
a brilliant gold.
